Camp Ihduhapi has small, single-gender cabin groups of 8-10 campers and 2 cabin staff, providing for individual attention and positive, small group dynamics. Program professionals assist in areas like waterfront, arts & crafts, health services, administration and much more. Our kitchen staff prides themselves on creating a well-balanced and great-tasting menu. A salad bar is provided at both lunch and dinner. Fresh fruit is offered each day. Campers eat family style as a cabin group.

TRADITIONAL CAMPTraditional camp is a great experience for kids to spend a week full of many of their favorite camp activities. Campers choose four Achievement options and will spend an hour on each Achievement activity every day. Wednesday's are Theme Day, and are filled with special theme-related fun.

Theme Days are a rich part of Camp Ihduhapi tradition. Campers (and counselors!) get wildly creative, dress-up and spend the day on theme-related activities, including all-camp games such as Counselor Hunt, Capture the Flag, or trench. Theme Day may also include a dance, carnival or floating campfire. And it's sleep-in day (one extra hour!). Plan ahead and bring a costume and accessories to compliment your Theme Day!

Our Horse Camp is perfect for beginner riders! Campers learn basic horse care, riding safety, and techniques such as mounting, dismounting, and controlling the horse. Weather permitting, campers will spend one Achievement time each day at the Ranch for riding and instruction, including a trail ride through the Ihduhapi Forest. (Max. 16 campers each session.)

Campers will learn boating etiquette, waterski equipment care, and how to get up on skis from deep water. Camp can also be a great place to hone water-skiing skills such as cutting in and out of the wake, or dropping a ski. On the last day, everyone will have a chance to relax and hit the water for fun tube rides. (Max. 16 campers each session.)

Sailing Camp is a great waterfront adventure program for campers who want to learn about sailing and develop basic sailing skills. This program teaches the basic sailing knots, equipment care, and sailing terminology to help campers succeed in learning to rig and sail a boat. (Max. 16 campers each session.)

Young anglers in Fishing Specialty Camp will learn the basics of fishing, including how to tie the perfect knot and how to handle the fish once it is landed. The highlight of Fishing Camp is the trip to Mille Lacs Lake. Campers will board the half-day boat charter to attempt to catch the elusive "big one"! Bait, rods and tackle are provided by Ihduhapi through a partnership with Rapala. Campers may also bring their own equipment. (Max. 16 campers each session.)

Outdoor Challenge Camp combines Camp Ihduhapi's renowned high ropes challenges, low ropes initiatives, and excellent facilitators to create an opportunity for campers to strengthen their character and learn group cohesion skills. Some of the high events campers may participate in include the climbing wall, the pamper pole, the giant zip, the high Vs, the giant's ladder, and Ewok Village. (Min. 8 campers, max. 16 campers each session.)

The Arts & Crafts Specialty Camp is great for creative campers. Campers will work on various art projects like clay sculptures, tie-dying shirts, adn other assorted projects. On the last day, campers will have a chance to share their art with the other Arts & Crafts campers in their "Ihduhapi Art Show," before they take their projects home. (Max. 16 campers each session.)

Summer Samplers are special sessions for kids to try out overnight camp for the first time. During this four day and three night experience, campers will have the opportunity to enjoy cabin life in the great outdoors alogn with many Traditional Camp activities. This is a wonderful introduction to the unique experience that overnight camp provides. Register for a Specialty Camp Sampler!

This session is for those campers who need the adventure of more than one week at Camp Ihduhapi. Registration for the Naniboujou Session includes the choice of two Specialty Camps and two Achievements. Campers stay over the weekend between Sessions 7 and 8, where extra activities are planned*. Movie nights, Minnesota Twins games, bowling and tie-dying t-shirts are examples of the fun things done in the past.

For those teens who want to try something different than our Traditional Camp, we have the Teen Extreme Program. This fast-paced, fun adventure program combines a variety of exciting outdoor excursions! Groups leave Camp Ihduhapi for the day and return at night night to stay in their own cabin. Some groups may have the opportunity to camp out at a state or national park for one night. Weather permitting, campers will enjoy the thrills of activities such as rock climbing, a day at an amusement partk, a guided cave tour, trail hiking or even white-water rafting. (Groups are single-gender.)

Campers will learn leadership skills built upon the YMCA's core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Our Leadership Development Programs develope the whole person - spirit, mind and body - through a variety of activities, projects and team-building exercises. These valuable lessons will last a lifetime.
This six-day program introduces kids to the wonderful adventures of a river trip! The program starts with campers getting to know each other and practicing canoeing skills in camp. The next three days are spent paddling down a river, after which groups cook their own meals and sleep in tents. This is a great trip for campers to learn outdoor skills and team-building during their explorations! Groups are single-gender.

This is an exiciting 11- or 13-day program for kids who want to experience the challenge of living outdoors and working as part of a team! The first four days are spent at camp, focusing on group dynamics and team-building. Groups then move to Camp Menogyn and spend the next five days on either a backpacking trail expedition, or a canoe river trip with two experienced counselors. Groups are single-gender.

This is an 11- or 13-day leadership immersion program for teen campers who would like to develop their leadership and camping skills in the great outdoors! The first four days are spent at camp, focusing on leadership and service training. The next six days are spent on a canoeing adventure in northern Wisconsin. Campers are involved in planning their daily schedule, including the trip route and meals, with the guidance of camp counselors. Groups are co-ed.

This three-week program is for teens who would like to develop mentoring and leadership opportunities as camp counselors! CIT builds counseling skills by working together on team-building and leadership skills necessary in guiding younger campers. Activities start on-site at Camp Menogyn (located in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness) where they spend five days paddling the lakes with a trained Menogyn wilderness guide. The last week is spent at Camp Ihduhapi, applying their new skills by shadowing experienced counselors in a cabin of younger campers. Groups are co-ed. Campers and parents need to be aware that camping at Ihduhapi requires full participation from your child. To assure that your child has a safe summer camp experience, he or she will be expected to :

We do not allow the possession or use of tobacco, alcohol, illegal drugs or weapons. By filling out an application, this confirms an understanding and acceptance of these responsibilities.
