It's the perfect camp for the beginning camper to experience the fun and excitement of overnight camp while offering the returning campers their favorite activities, renewed friendships, and a place they can call their own.
Camp Culture
Camp Ihduhapi has small, single-gender cabin groups of 8-10 campers and 2 cabin staff, which provides individual attention and positive, small group dynamics. Program professionals assist in areas like waterfront, arts and crafts, health services, administration and much more. Our kitchen staff prides themselves on creating a well-balanced and good-tasting menu. A salad bar is provided at both lunch and dinner. Fresh fruit is offered each day. Campers eat family style as a cabin group.
Conference and Retreat Center
Camp Ihduhapi is an exceptional site for conferences, retreats and meetings. Set on the edge of Lake Independence, the Conference and Retreat Center offers the facilities and atmosphere to make work or family gatherings memorable.
Many combine a stay at Ihduhapi with a custom team building program at the Adventure Learning Center. A program that uses low rope initiatives and climbing challenges to test familiar methods of communication, respect, cooperation, trust and problem solving.
Sleeping Accommodations
Camp Ihduhapi has 14 cozy cabins with 10 bunks in each. In addition, we have two cabins that sleep 12 and the Bunkhouse. The Bunkhouse is one of our newer structures and has three, 12 person cabins, a central meeting space, and restrooms attached in one building. A newer Bathhouse is available for the cabins without restrooms connected to them.
American Camping Association Accreditation
YMCA Camp Ihduhapi is accredited by the American Camping Association and is visited every three years to assure compliance with the ACA standards.
ACA Accreditation means that your child’s camp cares enough to undergo a thorough (up to 300 standards) review of its operation — from staff qualifications and training to emergency management. American Camp Association collaborates with experts from the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Red Cross, and other youth-serving agencies to assure that current practices at your child’s camp reflect the most up-to-date, research-based standards in camp operation. Camps and ACA form a partnership that promotes growth and fun in an environment committed to safety.
ACA helps accredited camps provide:
• Healthy, developmentally-appropriate activities and learning experiences
• Discovery through experiential education
• Caring, competent role models
• Service to the community and the environment
• Opportunities for leadership and personal growth
